Mrs Glenda Pontes, a mother of two, is a qualified pre-school and Grade-R teacher who obtained a Higher Diploma in Education from the well renowned Barkly House Teachers College. She specialises in Junior Primary and the Foundation phase with a focus on early intervention for learning barriers. With her extensive knowledge and over 25 years experience in teaching and managing in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Glenda has become a role model among members of her community and beyond. She has conducted workshops for teacher training and has also implemented assistance in Du Noon and other informal settlements.

 

 

Originally established in Bothasig, Building Blocks Preschool is a privately owned professional educational centre with elements of a wam and caring home. Glenda aims to give the children in her care a firm foundation for life. She believes that through play, children can learn basic concepts, which are introduced in the most appropriate way from a developmental point of view.
